What happens before we film a hotel
By Rafael Cortinhas ·

A hotel film starts long before the camera. It starts with a conversation, to understand the place, who visits it and what should stay in the memory of those who spend a night there. Only then do we decide what to film.
Why do we start by listening?
Because every hotel has rooms, a pool and breakfast. What sets them apart is everything else: the light at a certain hour, a quiet corridor, the way the team welcomes you. At Palácio do Governador, in Belém, we understood early on that the tenth-anniversary film shouldn't just show the spaces. It should give a voice to the people who bring them to life: management, the kitchen, the spa, events.
How are the moments chosen?
With the hotel team. Together we choose the hours and the spaces, so we can film while the hotel is open without disturbing anyone staying there. At TerraSense, in Videmonte, that meant following the pace of the place itself: the lavender, the bees, the rye bread, the trails.
How long does it take?
Filming usually takes one to three days. The film arrives two to three weeks later, with room for us to fine-tune it together.
What do you get at the end?
A main film, short versions for social media, vertical and horizontal, and the edited photographs. All made to live on the website, on social media and in the press.
A good hotel film doesn't explain the place. It makes you feel it. That's why everything starts before we film.
